CNG delivery | Glycol bath, catalytic and electric PRS

Trailer pressure in. Site pressure out.

NuBlu pressure reduction systems take gas straight from CNG trailers down to the pressure the site needs, and put back the heat the pressure drop takes out. Pick the heat source for the site, then the capacity: glycol bath for high volume, catalytic for compact flame-free sites, electric where no flame or catalyst is allowed. The flagship PRS-G8000 delivers up to 8,000 MSCF/d.

Overview

CNG delivered from trailers arrives at high pressure and drops sharply on its way to site pressure. That pressure drop cools the gas fast enough to freeze regulators, valves and downstream equipment if the heat is not put back in. Every NuBlu PRS pairs two-stage pressure regulation with a heater sized for the flow, so the gas stays above hydrate and freeze conditions through the cuts.

Three heat sources cover every site. The PRS-G series uses a glycol bath heater for high-volume continuous delivery, with redundant control valve and regulator circuits so the unit keeps flowing through maintenance. The PRS-C series uses a flame-free catalytic heater for compact and populated sites. The PRS-E series heats electrically for utility and LDC sites where fired and catalytic equipment are excluded. All are built, wired and FAT-tested in our shop.

Flows are stated in MSCF/d: the model number is the rated flow. Final outlet pressure, valve trim and PSV settings are configured to your application.

Why Pressure Reduction Systems

The right heat source for the site

Glycol bath where the volume is high, catalytic where flame is unwelcome, electric where neither flame nor catalyst is allowed. One family, one control philosophy.

Redundant pressure control

PRS-G units cut pressure through two parallel control valve circuits and two parallel regulator circuits. Run on one, service the other, no shutdown for routine maintenance.

Sized by the number

PRS-G8000 means 8,000 MSCF/d. Every model is rated in MSCF/d so sizing a site is arithmetic.

Mobile packages

Trailer or skid mounted, designed to move between sites and operate wherever CNG trailers are staged.

Fully automated

PLC-based control with HMI and remote monitoring. Trailer swap logic, multi-trailer mode and start-up sequencing handled in software.

Built and tested in shop

Final assembly, FAT, loop checks and HMI commissioning happen in our shop. Issues get caught in the shop, not on your site.

Typical applications

  • Dual-fuel frac and e-frac fleets
  • Drilling rig fuel gas supply
  • Mobile and temporary power generation, including data center bridging power
  • Gas utility and LDC supply during outages and pipeline work
  • Pipeline integrity work and pipeline pack-up
  • Peak shaving and standby gas service
  • Remote site CNG-to-line-pressure conversion

What's included

Engineering and aftermarket support

Every PRS ships with a complete engineering package: P&IDs, GA drawings, electrical load lists and a full O&M manual. Critical spares, including control valve trims and instrumentation, are stocked at our shop for fast response.

Field service, troubleshooting and remote diagnostics are handled by the same team that designed and built the unit.

The PRS family: pick the heat source, then the capacity

PRS-G series

Glycol bath heater. High-volume, continuous duty with reliable heating.

PRS-C series

Catalytic heater. Flame-free, compact, no separate fuel hookup.

PRS-E series

Electric heater. Utility and LDC sites where open flame is not an option.
